New skyscraper to go up in Moscow business center
MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax) - A new skyscraper is planned to be built in the Moscow International Business Center, a business district commonly known as Moscow City, by 2015, a source in the City managing company said on Monday.
The 50-story tower block with a total floor space of 315,000 square meters, designed by Stuttgart-based company Werner Sobek, will include offices, apartments, a conference center and a parking lot for 2,500 cars, the source told Interfax.
The source said the site was being prepared for construction, which would start in March or April.
The project is tentatively valued at $700 million, according to the source. It will be financed by the development companies of businessmen God Nisanov and Zarah Iliyev. The two businessmen's press secretary, Nadezhda Spiridonova, confirmed this to Interfax.
Spiridonova said the new tower would be Russia's first and Europe's sixth office building to meet LEED Platinum environmental standards, with "green building" technology being used in putting it up.
