First test launch of silo-based Yars ICBM conducted from Plesetsk site - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The first test launch of Russia's silo-based Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was carried out from the Plesetsk firing range on Tuesday, Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) spokesman Col. Igor Yegorov told Interfax-AVN.

"An RVSN unit test launched a silo-based RS-24 solid-fuel ICBM equipped with multiple warheads from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time," he said.
