Naryshkin praises Karzai's effort to achieve national concord
KABUL. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Russia thinks highly of Hamid Karzai as the national leader of Afghanistan, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin after on Tuesday after Kabul negotiations with Afghan officials.
"I am grateful to President Hamid Karzai for the very frank and interesting conversation, in which we exchanged opinions about the situation in Afghanistan," the Russian politician said.
In his opinion, the Afghan president "is exerting huge efforts to achieve national concord, which is fundamental for the deterrence of terrorists, extremists and drug threats."
"We highly value the work of the national leader," Naryshkin stressed.
This is the first visit of the Russian parliament leader to Kabul in the past 35 years.
