Russian, US, Syrian, UN, OPCW experts to discuss Syrian chemical arms destruction in Moscow on Dec 27 - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Experts from Russia, the United States, Syria, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the United Nations will gather in Moscow on December 27 to discuss progress in the elimination of Syrian chemical weapons.

"We plan to hold a coordination meeting of experts in Moscow on December 27 involving the United States, Syrians, the OPCW and the UN. The work is incessant," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with the Voice of Russia radio.

"It would not be an exaggeration to say that interaction and dialogue happen daily. We never miss a Saturday or a Sunday in maintaining our telephone or e-mail contacts," Ryabkov said.

Ryabkov admitted certain problems in the interaction with the United States.

"Indeed, there are some rough edges. But we hope that the solutions we have found and the upcoming coordination and interaction events will allow us to pass through this extremely important period without disruptions or escalation of political [tensions]," the deputy foreign minister said.
