Nissan plant in St. Petersburg may start to assemble Pathfinder

ST. PETERSBURG. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Nissan's St Petersburg factory, Nissan Manufacturing Rus LLC, may start assembling the Pathfinder off-road vehicle as part of its expansion, a source at the company told Interfax.

The company said that the Pathfinder may become the factory's fifth model. The Pathfinder may replace the Murano, which is currently assembled at the plant, in 2015, though the final decision has not yet been made.

The factory will continue producing the Teana and X-Trail models, but with new bodies, and will also start assembling the new-generation Qashqai.

Additionally, the company said that it may halt semi knocked-down assembly of Infiniti and Nissan models in May 2014 at their Shushary plant in St. Petersburg, a division of Nissan Manufacturing Rus LLC.

The company currently assembles the Infiniti QX80 (QX56) 4x4, Infiniti M sedans and the Nisan Patrol. The assembly plant has been operating since 2012, and used to produce the Infiniti FX model.
