Russian food watchdog to ban supplies from 11 Estonian dairy, fish producers since Jan 9
MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - The supplies to Russia from five Estonian dairy producers and six fish and fish products producers will be banned since January 9, 2014, the Russia Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.
The decision to limit imports has been made following the inspections of Estonian dairy and fish enterprises, Rosselkhoznadzor Chief Sergei Dankvert has told Interfax.
The issue with dairy producers concerned in particular the fact that the enterprises did not have full control over unpasteurized milk - the existing control system did not cover all necessary groups of antibiotics stipulated in the control regulations of the Customs Union.
It has been determined that the Tere AS (N102) enterprise received unpasteurized milk from Latvia without documents on the results of laboratory safety tests. Russian inspectors have not been provided with documents confirming comprehensive laboratory tests of unpasteurized milk and ready products in 2013.
The issues with fish processing enterprises included lack on control over ready products. It has been determined during the inspections that ready products were sent to storage with intermediate labeling with just the day of the catch and final labeling was added prior to being sending to customers. Thus, it was impossible to establish when fish was processed and how long it was in the storage.
Rosselkhoznadzor has sent its preliminary report on the inspection to Estonian colleagues and is expecting their reaction.
