Venediktov is back on Ekho Moskvy board
MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief Alexei Venediktov is now back on the Ekho Moskvy board of directors.
"A new board of directors of Ekho Moskvy has been elected. It comprises three people from Gazprom-media (including Mikhail Lesin), one independent director Vadim Semyonov (Svyazinvest), and me from Ekho Moskvy. I am back on the Ekho Moskvy board after a forced two-year absence," Venediktov said in his blog on the Ekho Moskvy website on Thursday.
"The changes in the board of directors will not affect the editorial policies," he said.
In October, Venediktov told Interfax Gazprom-Media General Director Mikhail Lesin had backed his proposal to return Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief and his deputy Vladimir Varfoloeyev to the radio station's board.
The editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy said it happened during a discussion with Lesin about the situation with the withdrawal by Venediktov and other journalists form the radio station's board in 2012.
"I told Lesin I was surprised by those events. He said: 'What's the problem? Get nominated again. I will vote for you,'" Venediktov said.
In March 2012, the Ekho Moskvy shareholders' meeting terminated the powers of the radio station's board. A new board was elected at an extraordinary meeting.
On October 1, news came about changes in the management of Gazprom-Media. Nikolai Senkevich was replaced by former press minister Mikhail Lesin for the post of the general director of the holding.
Gazprom-Media is comprised of the television channels NTV and TNT, the satellite television company NTV-Plus, the radio stations Ekho Moskvy, City FM, Relax FM, Detskoye Radio, Comedy Radio, the publishing house Sem Dnei, the movie company NTV-Kino, the movie theaters Oktyabr, Kristall Palace, and the Internet portal Rutube.
