Criminal case opened over murder of research institute deputy director

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened over the murder of Research Institute of Applied Chemistry Deputy General Director Yevgeny Ivanov in Sergiyev Posad, Moscow region, Olga Vradiy, spokesperson for the Moscow region department of the Russian Investigative Committee, told Interfax.

"The criminal case was opened on the counts of murder (Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code)," Vradiy said.

Ivanov, 54, was shot dead near his home on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street after he had walked a colleague to her residence from a corporate party.

Detectives and forensic specialists are examining the crime scene.
