Militant who earlier belonged to terrorist Umarov's gang killed in Dagestan - National Antiterrorist Committee
MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported the killing of a militant in a special operation in the village of Petrovskoye outside Khasavyurt, Dagestan.
"One gunman was neutralized in an attempt to break out of a blockaded house at 8:25 a.m. today. He has been primarily identified as Islam Atiyev, born in 1990. According to the NAC Operational Headquarters, he joined Doku Umarov's gang acting in the Chechen Republic in 2008. The gunman's record includes IED blasts and numerous facts of attacks on law enforcement officials," the NAC said.
A skirmish caused a fire in the blockaded house, and the active phase of the special operation is continuing, it said.
