Belarus repays $168.3 mln IMF stand-by tranche
MINSK. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Belarus has made a principal payment totaling $168.3 million on its stand-by facility from the IMF, Finance Ministry said in a statement.
"Belarus fulfilled its commitments on December 30 on the IMF stand-by facility with a principal payment of 109.5 million SDR [special drawing rights], the equivalent of $168.3 million," the statement says.
Minsk's previous payment on the loan was $84.3 million paid on December 20.
Belarus was to repay 1.0574 billion SDR ($1.63 billion), including interest, in 2013, the biggest annual repayment amount on the loan. It received the stand-by facility, which totaled 2.26952 billion SDR ($3.4 billion), in the January 2009-April 2010 period.
Belarus had a quota of 386.4 million SDR ($542.1 million) as of the beginning of 2013. It utilized IMF resources to finance systemic transformation in support of the government's economic reform program in 1993 (70.1 million SDR) and 1995 (120.1 million SDR). Its commitments under those loans were fully met in 2005.
