Arrests made over Pyatigorsk bombing that killed 3 - governor

PYATIGORSK, Russia. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Arrests have been made in connection with a bombing in Pyatigorsk in southern Russia on Friday that killed three people, all of whom were accidental passersby, interim governor of Stavropol region Vladimir Vladimirov told reporters on Monday.

Vladimirov did not disclose any details, pleading the secrecy of the investigation process.

The bomb was planted in a car parked in a parking lot near a furniture store on one of the major roads and opposite a traffic police building.

Preliminary investigation findings suggest the bomb was as powerful as about 50 kilograms of TNT.
