Almost 90 convicts paroled in Georgia on New Year's eve

TBILISI. Dec 31 (Interfax) - Eighty seven convicts have been paroled in Georgia on the New Year's eve upon the decision of the parole committee - they will be released from prisons by the end of the day, Georgian Deputy Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Grigol Giorgadze said at a briefing on Tuesday.

A total of 800 parole requests have been filed to the committee, Giorgadze said.

Four women are among those paroled. The parole did not apply to underage criminals.
