Ethnic conflicts should not lead to rioting - Patriarch Kirill
MOSCOW. Jan 7 (Interfax) - Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, has called for resolving ethnic conflict on the basis of law and order.
"People coming to Russia are not always familiar with our culture, customs or religion faith, and for many reasons which I won't mention now they don't try to recognize the fact that they live surrounded by a majority that has different ideas about daily culture, street behavior, relations between men and women," he said in an interview with Russia-1 channel on Tuesday.
However, this should not lead to lawlessness or violence or attempts "to crash all this and restore order through disorganized force," he said.
When such discrepancies challenge law and order "the answer is very simple: order must be restored on the basis of law," he said.
