Kharkiv plant fire reportedly kills 8
KYIV. Jan 8 (Interfax) - Eight people died in a fire in a building on the premises of one of the plants in Kharkiv on Wednesday, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Situations Service.
The fire in the five-story building on the premises of the Khartron plant was localized more than an hour after it broke out.
The State Emergency Situations Service said in a statement 22 people had been rescued from the building, which is rented by the Kharkiv Jewelry Factory.
The fire engulfed a total area of 250 square meters on the fourth and fifth floors.
Investigators were trying to find out the cause of the fire and estimating the damage it entailed.
