Russian rails carry 26.3% less grain product in 2013

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Rail shipments of grain product - grain, formula feed, groats, flour and other milled grain products - dropped 26.3% to 19.819 million tonnes last year from 26.889 million tonnes in 2012, Russian Railways (RZD) reported in materials examined by Interfax.

International shipments fell 41.6% to 8.883 million tonnes from 15.223 million tonnes. Transit shipments plunged 65.8% to 1.7 million tonnes from 4.975 million tonnes. Export deliveries fell 39.2% to 5.507 million tonnes from 9.055 million tonnes.

On the other hand, imports increased 40.6% to 1.677 million tonnes from 1.192 million tones.

Domestic rail shipments of grain product dipped 6.3% to 10.9 million tonnes from 11.7 million tonnes a year earlier.
