Kyrgyz security services deny relation to video that forced Muslim leader to resign
BISHKEK. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security has denied its alleged relation to the intimate video of former Kyrgyz Islamic Department head Rakhmatulla Egemberdiyev.
"Parliament deputy Karamat Orozov's claims of the alleged relation of security services to the intimate video of the former supreme mufti are incorrect," the committee press service told Interfax on Tuesday.
"The committee officially announces that the parliamentarian's statements are unfounded and recommends that [persons] possessing evidence of violations by security services appeal to the prosecution service," it said.
The Council of Ulemas removed from office Kyrgyz Supreme Mufti Egemberdiyev on January 8 after an intimate video featuring the mufti and his 21-year-old common-law wife had been posted online.
