Russia ups electricity exports to non-CIS countries 7.1% in 11M

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Russia raised electricity exports to non-CIS countries 7.1% year-on-year in January-November 2013 to 11.789 billion kilowatt-hours, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.

Exports in value grew 10.3% to $614.4 million.

Overall electricity exports in the 11M were 16.93 billion kWh, up 2.3% year-on-year.

Exports to the CIS fell 7.3% to 5.138 billion kWh.

Russian electricity imports from non-CIS countries in January-November grew 25% to 488.6 million kWh. Imports from the CIS soared 87% to 3.9 billion kWh.

Overall electricity imports grew 77% to 4.4 billion kWh.

The state-owned Inter RAO UES exports and imports electricity from and to Russia. The biggest market outside the former USSR is Finland.

Inter RAO boosted electricity imports from Kazakhstan 145.5% year-on-year in January-September due to growth in imports under commercial contracts and in growth in the framework of parallel grid operation under contract with Kazakhstan's grid operator, Kegoc.
