Russian wheat exports fall nearly 20% to 12.25 mln tonnes in 11M 2013
MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Russia exported 12.25 million tonnes of wheat and meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye) in January-November 2013, down 19.9% from 15.29 million tonnes in the 11M of 2012, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) reported on Tuesday.
Most grain, 11.5 million tonnes, was exported to non-CIS countries in the 11M of 2013 for $2.9 billion.
The FCS said that exports fell in value to $3.1 billion, from $4.3 billion in 11M 2012.
Russia imported 733,800 tonnes of wheat and meslin worth $197.6 million in 11M 2013 against 183,400 tonnes worth $43.4 million in the 11M of 2012. Russia also imported 263,600 tonnes of barley worth $88.1 million against 496,000 tonnes worth $181.4 million in 2012. Additionally, the country imported 48,300 tonnes of corn worth $130.7 million against 36,900 tonnes worth $85.3 million in 2012.
Russia harvested 91.3 million tonnes of grain in 2013 as a whole, up from 70.9 million tonnes in 2012.
