Russia imports 10.6% less meat in Jan-Nov 2013
MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Russia imported 1.14 million tonnes of meat (without poultry) worth $4.45 billion, in January-November 2013, down 10.6% from 1.27 million tonnes in the same period of 2012 (worth $4.97 billion).
Customs statistics show that poultry imports dropped to 459,400 tonnes for $730.5 million, compared to 473,000 tonnes for $751.8 million.
The Federal Customs Service reported that fish imports grew to 690,900 tonnes for $2.04 billion, from 657,800 tonnes for $1.71 billion. Imports were up to 124,400 tonnes for butter ($585.9 million), compared to 103,900 tonnes ($406.2 million), 187,500 tonnes for condensed milk and cream ($664.8 million), against 130,300 tonnes ($341.9 million) and 1.34 million tonnes for citrus fruits ($1.35 billion), against 1.23 million tonnes ($1.18 billion).
Imports of raw sugar cane fell to 419,200 tonnes for $206.2 million, against 446,000 tonnes for $262.8 million. White sugar imports went up to 69,700 tonnes ($41.7 million), against 54,900 tonnes ($37.8 million).
Russia imported 132,000 tonnes of coffee ($471.6 million), up from 111,100 tonnes ($453.9 million), and 159,700 tonnes of tea ($628.8 million), down from 165,100 tonnes ($573.9 million).
Imports of cocoa beans edged down to 55,400 tonnes ($179.5 million) from 56,600 tonnes ($162.8 million). Imports of sunflower oil amounted to 17,600 tonnes ($23 million), up from 16,700 tonnes ($21.5 million).
The share of food and ingredient imports was 13.2% in January-November 2013, slightly up from 12.9% in the 11 months of 2012.
