Cost of building Moscow-Kazan highspeed railway estimated down 6% - Misharin
MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The estimated cost of building a high-speed railway between Moscow and Kazan has been lowered by 6%, the first vice president at OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) and general director at Skorostnie Magistraly (High-Speed Railways), Alexander Misharin told Interfax.
"OJSC Skorostnie Magistraly has received a conclusion from Glavgosexpertise on the basis of investment in the HSR project," he said.
The Moscow-Kazan HSR, which is expected to run through seven Russian regions, will slash the travel time between the two cities to 3.5 hours at maximum speeds of up to 400 km/h. The line is scheduled to open in June 2018.
"The cost of the project has been adjusted [down] by 63 billion rubles [to] 949 billion rubles," Misharin said. "The adjusted cost can be used for determining the effectiveness of construction and the valuation of the investment plan," he said.
