Almost 2,500 phones, 760 grams of drugs seized at Moscow detention facilities in 2013
MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - More than 700 grams of drugs were seized from inmates of Moscow detention facilities in 2013, head of the Moscow city department of the Federal Penitentiary Service Anatoly Tikhomirov said.
"More than 70,000 searches were made in detention facility cells, and 2,366 phones, 1,389 SIM cards, 283,000 rubles and 761.76 grams of drugs were impounded," he said at a Service Board meeting on Friday.
Most forbidden items were seized at the stage of their delivery, Tikhomirov said.
"Most narcotic drugs, 65.2% of mobile phones, 84.2% of money and 55.6% of SIM cards were detected and confiscated during their delivery," he said.
