Bout's lawyer drops plans to appeal U.S. court ruling

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - The defense team of Russian citizen Viktor Bout sentenced by a U.S. court to 25 years in prison will not appeal this decision at the Supreme Court of the United States, his lawyer said.

"It is known that lawyers have no obligation to tell the truth for professional reasons. We are not searching for the truth. Similarly, when I was talking about my plans to appeal at the Supreme Court, that was misinformation," Bout's lawyer Alexei Binetsky told a press conference at Interfax on Friday.
