Uzavtoprom completes UzAuto Trailer plant
TASHKENT. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Uzbek joint stock company Uzavtoprom has completed construction of its trailer plant UzAuto Trailer in Samarkand region at a cost of $31 million.
The plant will supply its products to Uzbek-German company LLC MAN Auto - Uzbekistan, the joint venture told Interfax.
UzAuto Trailer will produce semi-trailers, container trucks and other special equipment. Projected capacity is for 2,000 trailers and 1,000 mounted equipment per year.
MAN Truck & Bus AG, a subdivision of the MAN group, and Uzavtoprom set up the joint venture in the summer of 2009. Uzbekistan holds 51% of the project and Germany - 49%.
From September 2010 the joint venture has been assembling trucks at the auto plant LLlC SamAuto. The joint venture opened a dealership and service center in Samarkand region in the spring of 2011 and in 2012 an assembly plant with the capacity to produce 6,000 MAN tractors and chassis per year with a two-shift system. Capacity may later be increased to 10,000 per year.
MAN Auto - Uzbekistan is not subject to any taxes inside Uzbekistan, or mandatory payments to the Highway Fund and customs payments on imported goods to 2017.
