Bomb in Makhachkala contains no shrapnel - source

MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - The explosive device, which went off near a Makhachkala restaurant on Friday, did not contain shrapnel, a source in the Dagestani law enforcement authorities told Interfax.

"The explosive device, which went off near the restaurant, did not contain shrapnel," the source said.

"According to the preliminary information, the explosions occurred due to an argument with the restaurant's owners," the source said.

The establishment has opened recently and its owners have received "threats and demands to pay a certain sum to criminal structures for protection," the source said.
