Russian foreign minister and U.S. secretary of state discuss Syria over phone

MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held a telephone conversation on January 20 at Washington's initiative.

"The heads of the foreign policy agencies continued to discuss the situation around Syria in light of the international conference intended to help secure a peaceful settlement in this country, due to start on January 22," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
