Giorgi Badashvili appointed new chief prosecutor in Georgia
TBILISI. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Giorgi Badashvili has been appointed chief prosecutor of Georgia, in line with a decree signed by the Georgian prime minister, the government press service reported.
Badashvili's candidacy for chief prosecutor was nominated by Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani.
Badashvili has served until lately as chief of the investigative department of the Georgian prosecution service. Before this, he occupied a high-ranking position at the Georgian Finance Ministry's financial police.
Badashvili was born in 1981. He graduated from the law department of the Georgian Technical University in 2003.
Badashvili will come instead of Zurab Partskhaladze, who stepped down as chief prosecutor on December 30, 2013, after it turned out that he had been convicted in Germany.
