Russia to launch rescue training system in East Europe
MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will be training highly-skilled rescuers for Eastern European countries and the CIS, Deputy Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Artamonov told reporters.
"We have prepared a strategy to advance our training system to the European level. We set up a center where Bulgarians are trained, and opened a representative office of the Emergency Situations Ministry's educational institutions in Serbia and Montenegro, which will be training specialists for the Russian-Serbian rescue center in the town of Nis," he said.
The ministry will also be expanding its rescue training programs for the CIS, he said.
"We are already training staff for the CIS countries' rescue agencies at our educational institutions - the Civil Defense Academy, the State Fire Service Academy and the St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Service. We are set to expand this work," he said.
