Around $6 bln spend at preparations for Sochi Olympics - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has confirmed that approximately $50 billion were spend before the Sochi Olympics of which $6 billion were spend directly on preparations for the games.

"The first figure is the Olympics and the second figure is the development of the region. When we solve the Olympics task, we have also solved the development of the region in parallel," Medvedev said in an interview with CNN when asked to comment on rumors that $50 billion, not $6.4 billion as Russian authorities claim, were spent at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
