"Absolute" majority of Ukrainians do not support extremists' call for uprising - Premier Azarov

DAVOS. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian citizens do not support extremists' calls for an uprising, Ukraine's Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.

"We are making it absolutely clear: any unconstitutional actions in the capital must be stopped. The call for an armed uprising is a totally unconstitutional path, which would lead to bloodshed. It [the call] is coming from a very narrow circle of extremists and it does not enjoy the support of the absolute majority of Ukraine's population," Azarov said at a meeting with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland in Davos on Thursday.
