Heads of Ukraine's Rivne region resign - opposition party
KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Residents of the Ukrainian city of Rivne effectively seized the building of the Rivne regional administration on Thursday, demanding the immediate withdrawal of riot police and Internal Troops soldiers from the city and the resignation of the administration's acting head and his deputies.
The press service of the Svoboda opposition party reported on Thursday that protesters want acting head of the Rivne regional administration Anatoliy Yukhymenko and his deputy Olexiy Hubanov to step down.
According to Svoboda's press service, after four hours of negotiations, representatives of law enforcement agencies left the building of the Rivne regional administration, and Yukhymenko and Hubanov handed in their resignation.
