Police free Cherkasy region's council building from protesters
KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The police have freed the building of the Cherkasy region's council from protesters, the public relations department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's Department for the Cherkasy region has reported.
"Around 11:00 p.m., the police freed the building of the region's council from the people who had illegally entered it. Measures are now being taken to detain the violators," the report says.
Criminal cases have been opened based on the articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code dealing with "resisting police" and "riots," the press service reported.
The police have detained 58 people suspected of attempting to seize the building of the Cherkasy region's council, the press service reported.
