Chernivtsi administration in west Ukraine subject of attempted storm
KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Prosecutors in the Chernivtsi region have opened a criminal case over attempts by radically-minded citizens to storm the regional state administration building.
"Despite the Chernivtsi region prosecutor's appeal to citizens urging them to observe public order, this morning some radically-minded individuals started mass disturbances and attempted to violently attack the Chernivtsi regional state administration building. A criminal case has been launched over the incident under the charges of 'organizing mass disturbances' and 'an attack on state or public buildings or structures'," a spokesperson for the Chernivtsi region prosecutor's office said on Friday.
A pre-trial investigation is carried out by police with the procedural supervision by regional prosecutors.
Such unlawful actions are punished by three to ten years of imprisonment, the spokesperson said.
