Ukraine will hold Holocaust memorial event on January 27 - Jewish forum

KYIV. Jan 24 (Interfax) - A memorial event marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day will be held in the Kyiv Actor House at 4:00 p.m. on January 27, the press service for the Ukrainian Jewish Forum has reported.

The event, which was organized by the Jewish Forum and the Jewish Foundation of Ukraine with support from the Ukrainian Nationalities Assembly as part of the national action Six Million Hearts, will involve representatives of the Ukrainian state and executive administration and parliamentarians, the report says.

"Among the participants in the memorial ceremony will be the heads of the diplomatic missions of Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Russia, Romania, and the U.S., Ukrainian public figures, leaders of young people's organizations, students, and journalists. Special attention will be given to the surviving witnesses of the tragedy of the Jewish people: former prisoners of ghettoes and Nazi concentration camps and children of war," the report says.

According to an earlier report stating that the memorial event marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day scheduled to be held in the Brodsky Synagogue on January 27 had been cancelled 'for security reasons."
