UN SC experts back FSB initiative to create counterterrorism database

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (UN SC CTC) has praised the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) initiative to form an international counter-terrorism data bank, the FSB public relations center said.

"A high rating has been given to the 'International Counter-Terrorism Data Bank' forum's project whose resources were tested during the Commonwealth of Independent States' (CIS) Ala-Too-Antiterror 2013 anti-terror exercise," the Russian FSB public relations center said in a statement obtained by Interfax on Friday, after the FSB International Cooperation Directorate chief Alexei Kuzyura attended a UN SC CTC session at the UN headquarters in New York.

Kuzyura presented an annual briefing about the Russian FSB's efforts to strengthen international anti-terror cooperation.

The main subject of his speech were the results of the 12th conference of intelligence, security and law enforcement chiefs from the FSB's partner states held in Kazan on June 5-6, 2013, the FSB public relations center said. The meeting was attended by delegations from 96 counter-terrorism agencies from 63 countries, as well as representatives from the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the CIS.
