Activists seize 4 district administration buildings in Lviv region - Svoboda party

LVIV. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Residents of the Sokal, Stryi, Radekhiv, and Busk districts in the Lviv region seized district administration buildings on Friday, the press service of the regional branch of the Svoboda (Freedom) party reported.

There were no officials in the building of the Sokal district administration, and all doors were sealed when the activists entered it. The Stryi and Radekhiv district administration buildings were also empty when activists came to demand the administrations' resignation.

As for the situation in Busk, the district council held an extraordinary session on Friday to express no confidence in the head of the district administration, Volodymyr Sai, and demanded that he and his deputies quit the Party of Regions. Following the session, Sai and his deputy Yevhen Kichurchak announced their withdrawal from the party. Two members of the Busk district council did the same.

A number of lawmakers and activists also came to the head of the Horodok district administration, Oksana Dunas, to demand that she step down, but she refused to do so. Activists are now continuing to picket the local administration building.
