Georgian authorities to finance another four religions
TBILISI. Jan 27 (Interfax) - In addition to the Orthodox Church, Georgia will finance another four religions (Islam, the Gregorian Church, the Catholic Church, and Judaism) from the state budget, Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili told a government meeting on Monday.
"Various statements have recently been made stating that religious conflicts became frequent under our rule. I believe that is not true," he said.
"We respect all religions and the fact that we are now considering the issue of state financing of another four religions in addition to the Orthodox Church confirms that," Garibashvili said.
"The funding for them will be provided proportionately," he said.
