Rasmussen's intention to discuss Ukraine at meeting with Lavrov on Jan 28 surprises Russia

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Moscow is surprised by a statement by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen that Ukraine will be discussed at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on January 28.

"When we were preparing the negotiations the subject of Ukraine was not even touched on. The goal of tomorrow's meeting between Lavrov and the NATO secretary general is to discuss Russia-NATO relations, including problems of interaction and development prospects," a source with the Russian Foreign Ministry told Interfax on Monday.

"The situation in Ukraine was not on the agreed upon agenda," the source said.
