Some demands of Ukrainian opposition could be met at emergency Verkhovna Rada meeting on Tuesday - Tyagnibok
KYIV. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Some of the demands issued by the parliamentary opposition to the authorities could be met, leader of the Freedom party Oleh Tyagnibok said following talks between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders.
"It is evident that the negotiations will be continued. What was achieved today is much more than before. But this is not what we are demanding as representatives of the people, who are standing at [Kyiv's main square] Maidan today," the Freedom press office quoted Tyagnibok as saying.
In particular, many issues could be resolved during an emergency meeting of Verkhovna Rada on January 28, Tyagnibok said.
"They are ready to vote for the bill on the decriminalization of participants of peaceful rallies and on amnesty. Thus, this includes the release of all detainees and a stop to repressions, which have spread throughout Ukraine. However [this can be done only] under certain conditions," Tyagnibok said.
These conditions will be discussed on Tuesday during the Verkhovna Rada proceedings. The authorities are ready to vote regarding the political responsibility of the government with an ensuing resignation, he said.
The issue concerning the cancellation of the bills passed on January 16 should be resolved on Tuesday as well, Tyagnibok said.
