UDAR leader Klitschko does not see himself in Ukraine's new govt
KYIV. Jan 28 (Interfax) - The leader of Ukraine's UDAR opposition party, former world boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, has said he does not see any post in the country's new cabinet that would suit him.
"There is no point in discussing work in the government with me. There is even no point in raising this issue," Klitschko was quoted as saying after negotiations between Ukraine's authorities and opposition by the UDAR party's press service.
Hopefully, President Viktor Yanukovych will not impose a state of emergency on Ukraine, he said.
"I hope that such a decision will not be made since the introduction of a state of emergency will trigger a fresh round of crisis escalation and will not do any good," Klitschko said.
During the third round of negotiations on January 25, Yanukovych offered Batkivshchyna faction leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk the post of prime minister and Klitschko the post of deputy prime minister for humanitarian issues.
Ukrainian Justice Minister Olena Lukash said after a January 28 meeting between Yanukovych and the opposition leaders that Yatsenyuk had formally turned down the president's offer.
