Azerbaijan ready to counter extremist threats - security ministry
BAKU. Jan 28 (Interfax) - The situation in Azerbaijan is under the Azeri National Security Ministry's control, Ministry spokesman Arif Babayev told Interfax.
"The National Security Ministry is taking all necessary and preventative measures to ward off the threats to Azerbaijan's national interests and security," he said in comments on reports that extremist organizations have issued threats to the Azeri government.
Babayev also said that the situation in Azerbaijan is under control.
A posting on the jam.az website (Center of Journalists' Investigations) says that the extremist organizations "Forest Brothers" and Jeyshullah have announced "the beginning of military operations against the Azeri authorities."
