Putin sees no disagreements between European, Eurasian integration processes
BRUSSELS. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin insists that there are no disagreements between the European and Eurasian integration processes.
"It's necessary to set larger and more ambitious goals, one of them being the convergence of the European and Eurasian integration processes. I am sure there are no disagreements between these two processes," Putin said in summing up outcomes of an EU-Russia summit on Tuesday.
Both integration models follow "similar principles, are based on the WTO norms, and could efficiently complement each other" and promote mutual trade and new major joint projects, he said.
"In this context, we openly exchanged opinions on the Eastern Partnership subjects. We are interested in stability and prosperity of the countries that are our neighbors. These states are seeking to cooperate with the EU more actively and simultaneously preserve close historical and cooperative ties with Russia. They should be assisted in this," he said.
