Sudan pledges to thoroughly investigate attack on Russian consul - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - The Sudanese authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into an attack on the Russian consul to this country, Sudanese Ambassador to Russia Omar Dahab Mohamed said.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and presidential envoy for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov received the Sudanese ambassador in Moscow at the latter's request on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The ambassador of Sudan expressed his regret about the attack Tuesday by an unidentified person on head of the Russian Consulate in Khartoum Andrei Taramayev and his wife. He reiterated that the Sudanese authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and take all the necessary measures to provide reliable security of the Russian Embassy and its personnel," it said.
