Russian, U.S. diplomats discuss Syria's chemical disarmament, Iranian nuclear program

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman have discussed Syria's chemical disarmament and the Iranian nuclear program.

Ryabkov met with Sherman on January 30 in Moscow, where the U.S. diplomat is taking part in a meeting of the G8 political directors, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on Thursday.

"Problems of chemical disarmament in Syria have been discussed. Prospects for continuing the negotiating process with Iran and its nuclear program and some bilateral issues have also been addressed," it said.
