Crisis in Ukraine can be resolved through national dialogue - Ukraine's ex-president Yushchenko
KYIV. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine's third president Viktor Yushchenko, who was president of Ukraine in 2005-2010, believes the current crisis in Ukraine can be resoled through national dialogue.
"Everyone who wishes the people of Ukraine peace and mutual understanding should work on one thing: on organizing national negotiations, a national dialogue on dozens of issues that make a difference in Ukraine," Yushchenko said at a roundtable meeting entitled Democratic Process and the Threat of Radicalism in Ukraine, which is held in the Ukrainian parliament on Monday.
Yushchenko said that 70% of all Ukrainians favor European integration and that was the reason why people have gone to peaceful protests.
Yushchenko believes the causes of this crisis are largely geopolitical.
"Two continental European policies are playing the Ukrainian card now. One is the European democracy, European integration policy, and the other is Moscow's policy," he said.
