Syrian "pocket opposition" must not take part in Geneva talks - Jarba

MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCSROF) is interested in the broadest possible involvement of the Syrian opposition at Geneva talks, but warns Damascus that "pocket opposition members" will not be allowed to Geneva II.

"Representatives of the Assad regime are talking a lot about getting as many opposition representatives involved in negotiations as possible. We too are interested in getting the broadest possible number of Syrian opposition activists participating in the conference," NCSROF chief Ahmad Jarba told a press conference at the Interfax head office.

"If the regime representatives think they will manage to engage the so-called pocket opposition or some puppets on the opposition side, this is an illusion," he said.

Thinking they will "manage to engage the opposition representatives who were or are languishing in basements of the regime's special services" are "vain hopes", Jarba said.
