No one injured after Mi-2 helicopter crashes, catches fire in Omsk region - ministry

MOSCOW/OMSK. Feb 5 (Interfax) - A Mil Mi-2 helicopter crashed in the village of Tevriz in the Omsk region on Wednesday; the pilot has not been injured, the Emergency Situations Ministry's regional directorate said.

The incident was reported to the on-duty officer at 12:55 p.m. Moscow time. "A Mi-2 helicopter crashed during a takeoff in the working village of Tevriz and caught fire. The pilot was inside and has not been injured," the Emergency Situations Ministry's Main Directorate for the Omsk region said on its website.

Two firefighting vehicles travelled to the scene. The fire has been extinguished.

There have been reports that the helicopter has a private owner, but this data is still being checked, the Directorate's spokesperson Alexei Puryshev told Interfax.

The helicopter has a private owner, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax. "The Mi-2 helicopter belonged to a private individual, born 1952, who got it repaired on the grounds of the self-employed Luchinin. The helicopter was being repaired, tried to take off after the repair, rose two meters, following which it overturned and crashed on private property," the source said.
