Law on amnesty applied to 15 participants of protests in Kyiv in 2013 - prosecutor's office
KYIV. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi District Court has upheld the request of the prosecutor's office to apply the Ukrainian law - on amending the Ukrainian law in regard to eliminating negative consequences [of the protests] and not allowing the pursuit and prosecution over the events which occurred during peaceful gatherings - to another individual convicted over the December clashes in central Kyiv.
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court ruled to pardon the man from serving the sentence, which had been returned under a guilty verdict by this very court, the Kyiv prosecutor's office press office said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Thus, as of today, the named law has been applied to 15 persons, who were held criminally liable for crimes related to resistance of the law enforcement authorities in November-December 2013," the document said.
Within a week prosecutors will ask courts to apply this law to all eligible individuals, the press office said.
