Russia to launch anti-dumping investigation on dairy from EU, Belarus

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russia is launching an anti-dumping investigation of the EU and Belarus to protect its dairy market from dishonest competition, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"It needs to be initiated," the PM told Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said at an agriculture meeting.

"We need to do this and I think soon, especially with regard dairy products, to initiate an antidumping investigation, especially with regard European countries. The level of subsidies there is very high and this is harming our industry," Dvorkovich said.

There are also problems with Belarus, he said.

"As to Belarus, here the situation must be transparent and symmetrical, because we virtually have a common market with them and a common customs space. If Belarusian producers come here, then we should have the chance to go there, and not to work in a regime of maximum supplies to the Russian market and close the Belarusian market," he said.
