Main goal of Yanukovych's Russia visit to attend Olympics opening - deputy PM

KHARKIV. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is visiting Russia to attend the opening of the Sochi Olympics on February 7, Acting Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko said.

"I think the central event on the agenda is a celebration of the landmark event for Russia, the opening of the Olympics in Sochi... The main part of the visit will focus on that," Boyko told reporters in Kharkiv on Thursday.

The agreements reached between the two countries' presidents on December 17 "are being implemented to fullest extent," he said, without saying whether Yanukovych's visit will involve any energy discussions.

"The whole business discussion that was held on December 17 is being implemented to the fullest extent," Boyko said.

On December 17, 2013, Russia and Ukraine signed a number of bilateral documents, in particular, regarding their cooperation in space research, emergency response and national border controls. The heads of state also signed an action plan regulating bilateral trade restrictions in 2013-2014. In addition, the Russian government and Ukrainian Cabinet signed a protocol on industrial goods supply in 2014.
