Technopromexport starts up power plant in Algeria following maintenance

MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Technopromexport (TPE), part of the Rostec state corporation, has completed scheduled capital repairs and restarted commercial operation of the second power unit at the Jijel thermal power plant in Algeria, the company said in a statement.

The project was carried out under a service and repair contract with Algerian electricity concern SPE. The contract covers all maintenance work on core equipment, both scheduled and emergency maintenance.

TPE and SPE signed contracts totaling $33 million on repair of the three power blocks at Jijel in 2012. The contracts cover capital repair of the second and third power blocks, partial repair of the first block, work to overhaul the generator at the third block and equipment deliveries.

TPE carried out the turnkey construction of the Jijel power plant in 1994. The three power units have 630 megawatts of combined capacity. The power station supplies electricity to consumers in Algeria and Tunisia.

Technopromexport, founded in 1955, builds hydraulic, thermal, geothermal and diesel power plants, transmission lines and substations. It is part of Rostec's Prominvest holding.
